These South Gate Siblings Created Nostalgic 'Latinx' Scented Candles

Back in January, our morning show welcomed the creators of La Vela Creations to discuss their hustle.

Their exposure and business continues to expand, so we thought it would be great to remind you guys of their amazing products that will remind you of your childhood.

Luis and Jazmin Garcia started La Vela Creations in their garage at their South Gate home. Today they are the brother-sister duo that are selling nostalgia and aromatherapy in handmade vegan candle form.

When Luis talked to Ryan Seacrest about La Vela Creations, he mentioned that their candles reflect upon their culture and upbringing. Luis told Ryan that the decision to start their own business happened after they opened up a Christmas present in 2018. Jazmin had received a brand of candle that seemed generic. Jazmin thought it would be great to create a candle that reminded them of their home, their grandma and grandpa's and their upbringing.

From that idea, they learned how to make candles on their own by watching YouTube videos. After some trial and error, they started selling a few scents like café de olla (traditional Mexican coffee), flan and churros. Yummy!

The brother-sister business partners now carry over 45 scents, including a Selena inspired candle (a must-have), 'Taquero Mucho' candle, which sounds like I love you a lot in English and smells like cotton candy.

They mostly sell their product at pop-ups around Los Angeles County and via their website.
