Google is honoring a Mexican television icon.
Friday's (02/21) Google search engine "Doodle" artwork honors the late Mexican television icon Roberto Gómez Bolaños, whom your mom, abuelita and entire family know as "Chespirito." Today would've been the actor's 91st birthday. Happy Birthday, Chespirito!
He was born on this day in Mexico City in 1929.
Many note the actor as the Charlie Chaplin of Mexico and is regarded as one of the most important Spanish-language humorists of all time.
A little history on the television icon: Chespirito, a show named after Gómez Bolaños iconic persona, ran from 1971 to 1992. It instantly became one of the most popular shows in Mexico and throughout Latin America. Ask any Latinx about Chesperito, and they'll reminisce on their childhood. A staple of Mexican culture.
Among his most beloved characters are El Chapulín Colorado and El Chavo del Ocho.
