The Roxy Theatre on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood is officially historic.
The West Hollywood City Council voted on Monday to give the iconic venue the official 'landmark' status. According to LA Curbed, one of the venue's original owners - Lou Adler - requested this happened, stating:
“By designating The Roxy historic, it ensures that we’ll continue to be part of the Sunset Strip yesterday, today, and tomorrow."
LA Curbed adds The Roxy Theatre possesses a uniquely diverse history as a live entertainment venue, which reflects West Hollywood’s important role in the history of popular music.
The Roxy isn't the only West Hollywood location named a landmark. The Rainbow Bar right next to The Roxy was also given the honor of being labeled a landmark location!
A huge congratulations to the two WeHo venues!
