Camila Cabello, Bad Bunny, J Balvin & Rosalía to Perform at 2019 MTV VMAs

The first batch of performers for this year's 2019 MTV Video Music Awards were revealed today (Tuesday Aug. 13th) and there is for sure so much to look for!

Among the performers is breakout star Rosalía, who joins the caliber of Camila Cabello, Bad Bunny and J Balvin. That's right...four of the seven announced performers are LatinX/Hispanic! Diversity is coming to the stage and we are so here for it!

Female rapper, Lizzo and LGBT singer/artist Lil Nas X are also performing with the roster of Spanish singers. Many are noticing the multicultural lineup is a huge difference from the last two years at the prestigious award show. Two years ago, the widespread criticism for the VMAs was that they did not include "Despacito” -- the most-viewed video in history and the No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 at the time in 2017 -- in its list of nominees, nor was the song part of the performance roster. Yankee and Daddy Yankee weren't invited to perform.

Last year the VMAs had memorable Latin moments when JLo was awarded the Video Vanguard Award, Maluma performed "Felices Los Cuatro", and Cardi B and Camila Cabello were recognized on a larger scale for their artistry.

Maluma's sexy and epic performance was Spanish music's welcome to the VMA's. Having artists such as Bad Bunny, J Balvin and Rosalia take the stage at the 2019 VMAs further proves that Latin music and Spanish-language songs keep dominating streaming charts at a global scale. Many english-speaking artists are collaborating with Spanish-speaking artists - take Drake and Bad Bunny's collab - "Mia" - for example.

The 2019 VMAs, hosted by Sebastian Maniscalco, will air live from the Prudential Center in New Jersey on Monday, Aug. 26, at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
