Nickelodeon Is Sending A Package of Slime to Space

The green slime made famous by Nickelodeon will ooze its way onto the International Space Station.

The children's television network is launching a publicity campaign in the name of STEM education. This campaign includes placing their famous slime aboard the SpaceXDragon capsule...and this is all happening this week!

The Nickelodeon slime will be in good company. It is boarding this space ship alongside 5,500 pounds of other experiments including supplies and food for the six astronauts embarking on this journey. The six astronauts will board the ISS, scheduled for takeoff at 6:01 pm ET this coming Thursday in Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

Nickelodeon says it is sending the slime into space for educational purposes, with the hopes of spreading the fun for a new generation. In case you forgot, the green slime became famous for soaking oblivious people - including famous people during award shows.

Water behaves odd in space -- it forms hovering blobs that can be slurped up with a straw mid-air...so who knows how the slime will behave when in space...especially since the ingredients for the slime are top secret.

Joining Nicklodeon's slime aboard SpaceX's resupply will be an Adidas soccer ball. If all goes well with launch, the Dragon spacecraft will link up with the ISS on Friday. It'll depart the space station in about four weeks, carrying home about 3,300 pounds of trash and research materials.
