A new series based on the life and murder of the Queen of Tejano, Selena, is officially coming to Telemundo.
The Spanish-language network has announced the date for the premiere of its new series El Secreto de Selena (Selena’s Secret), which they are calling 'the revealing story behind the death of the Tex Mex queen', AND it is coming so much sooner than you think. The series will premiere on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at 10pm/9c.
The series has been promoted for many months now, as it already aired in Latin America last year. Thankfully, fans in the United States will have a chance to see their idol's story on the small screen.
The series, Selena’s Secret is an adaptation of the book also named El Secreto de Selena written by Telemundo journalist Maria Celeste Arrarás, published in 1997. The series will be based around the investigation and trial of Selena’s murder and will reveal details of Arrarás’s investigation and journey during her assignment as well as details of her interview opportunity with Yolanda Saldivar, Selena’s murderer.
Celeste Arrarás has completed many interviews stating that she spent countless hours investigating the murder of the "Como la Flor" singer.
Arrarás participated in the series creation and co-executive produced it with Fernando Barbosa, Luis Balaguer, Leonardo Aranguibel and Francisco Cordero. Also, the series was produced by Buena Vista Original Productions, Moconoco, LatinWE, and BTF Media.
