Awkwafina Joins ‘The Little Mermaid’ Live-Action Adaptation

By now you've heard that The Little Mermaid is getting a live-adaptation..I mean...no surprise since every Disney film is getting a live version.

Well, Variety is reporting that the the film is currently in the casting process and the actress Awkwafina has signed on along with the actor Jacob Tremblay to play Flounder and Scuttle. A few days ago, Variety reported that Melissa McCarthy would be taking on the role of Ursula the Sea Witch!

Scuttle and Flounder are Ariel’s best friends, a seagull and fish, respectively.

Are you excited now!? Variety's reporting states that journalist Kris Tapley announced on Twitter that Awkwafina had joined the cast! The director for the "Mary Poppins Returns" film -- Rob Marshall -- is taking on the live-action "The Little Mermaid", Variety reports.

According to the report, the upcoming film will incorporate original songs from the 1989 animated hit as well as new tunes from original composer -- Alan Menken and “Moana’s” Lin-Manuel Miranda.

If you're wondering, yes, Lin-Manuel Miranda is also producing the film along with Marshall, Marc Platt and John DeLuca.

Who is excited to see the Oscar-winning songs “Under the Sea,” “Part of Your World” and “Kiss the Girl" back on the big screen? I am!
