Univision is going to make history. This Friday, for International Women's Day, the Hispanic media company will dedicate its programming to commemorate the extraordinary women both in-front and behind the camera.
The theme of the day is “Juntas Somos Súper Mujeres” (translates to: “Together, We Are Superwomen”) and it will recognize the women at Univision Communications Inc. for their efforts in building stronger communities, delivering top-level award-winning news and content, and for their personal and professional goals.
The CEO of Univision Communications Inc., Vince Sadusky expressed great excitement for the company's initiative:
“At Univision, women play an important role at every level year-round—from our studios to our editing bays, newsrooms and DJ booths, and management, oursúper mujeresare key drivers in our company’s continued growth and leadership position.
You'll notice a common color on all Univision's televised programming that day; For the “Together, We Are Superwomen” tribute, Univision's women (no matter what position title) will wear purple to show their support for the global day. Univision added that all their social media accounts will also follow the purple theme.
Again, this is MAJOR. As a leading media company in the United States, Univision will genuinely leave a mark. For the first time in Spanish-language TV history (in the U.S), Univision Deportes will be broadcasting a soccer match exclusively produced and called by women. This is a game-changer!
This will be for the Veracruz vs Santos Laguna match on Friday, March 8. Additionally, to highlight the role of women in sports, all Univision Deportes shows will have a female analyst on set.
So stay tuned, and be a part of history... March 8 will be a highlight and turning point for women in Hispanic media in the United States!
