Mexican filmmaker, Guillermo del Toro (The Shape of Water, Pan's Labyrinth) went to Twitter to give his fans a peek into his extensive collection of anime merch, manga, and other Japan-related goods...and boy is it geek's dream!
The Oscar-winning director's films take viewers into the depths of del Toro's creative mind, and from the looks of it, he also stores his creativity outside of his body. He never hides where he finds his influences, and how enthusiastic he is about manga films.
Before you go on to look at his collection, know that it is VERY impressive and know that many of the items there will surprise you.
Check out the photos the famed director shared on his Twitter below:
The room (or cabin, really) is packed with more books (in both English and Japanese), pieces of memorabilia, artwork, and statues than all walks of life can imagine.
From a glance, there are a few touches of del Toro’s work in the photos including a life-size Faun (from Pan’s Labyrinth) and his Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award for Puss in Boots. But much of the room is a dedication to what he loves.
If you pay close attention, it isn't just Japanese-related animation. The Simpsons and Angry Birds collections are in there as well...and what about that zombie-Michael Jackson from his "Thriller" music video? Honestly, there is so much, we could spend hours trying to identify everything in that room.
This looks like quite the geek paradise for del Toro when he’s not working on films. Who knows, maybe he can make this some kind of library in the future or even a museum?
I'm truly impressed. With his caliber of work, who knew he had time to go through all of this. What do you guys think? I'm thinking he can make a spin off movie based soley on this room!
