Yes yes yes!! I am so happy to hear this!!I'm seriously doing a happy dance over here!!! You know I'm a huge animal lover and advocate and I've always been against the use of fur in fashion.
Gucci going fur free is HUGE and hopefully only the beginning. Hopefully other big designers will also follow suit and go fur-free. Using real animal fur is no longer necessary and more and more people are becoming aware of the cruelty that is involved in attaining the fur.
Gucci has banned the use of fur and the ban will take affect with its Spring/Summer 2018 collections. Gucci also signed up to the Fur Free Alliance, an organization that promises to end the exploitation and killing of animals for fur.
“Do you think using furs today is still modern? I don’t think it’s still modern and that’s the reason why we decided not to do that. It’s a little bit out-dated,” said chief executive and president Marco Bizzarri. “Creativity can jump in many different directions instead of using furs.”
Gucci will be joining Calvin KIein, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and Armani which are all fur-free.
I'm so excited about this!! THis is only the beginning. I hope more designers will go fur-free as well and that we can move away from fashion that tortures and kills animals. Thank you Gucci for going Fur-free!
