It is officially illegal to assemble and disassemble your bike on a public sidewalk. According to NBC Los Angeles, The Los Angeles City Council just approved this new ordinance this week. Not only can you not put together or take apart a bike, but you also can't sell, solicit for selling, distribute bicycles and bicycle parts on public property or within the public right-of- way, according to NBC Los Angeles.
The ordinance also says ""will criminalize mundane activities of cyclists and risk increasing the harassment and victimization of already vulnerable populations: the unhoused and black and brown cyclists.''
