May is mental health awareness month. And as someone who has struggled with anxiety and depression, I think it is so important to be open and honest about your struggles because it might help the next person.
If you are someone that has struggled with any type of mental illness or you know someone who has, there are a bunch of free events happening this month that you can attend to show you are in alliance with destigmatizing conversations about mental health.
According to Santa Monica Daily Press, on May 14 there is a family bike ride happening at Ishihara Park. This is a free event that will offer information for kids and adults on mental health wellness. You can also visit The Santa Monica Public Library. All month long they will be offering readings and challenges for those who want to learn more about mental health. There will also be movie nights, musical events, talking circles and more all in support of educating and spreading awareness.
