I don't remember the last time I set foot in a library, let alone the last time I swiped my library card. But it looks like I'm going to have to go digging for mine because it was just announced that those cards can now get us into California state parks for free.
From now on, California residents can swipe their library card in order to get a free vehicle day use entry that can be used at over 200 state parks in the Cali. So when you go to the library to check out a book, you can also check out a California State Library Parks Pass as well.
According to KTLA, just like a library book, you will have to return your library park pass. Every resident is allotted a certain amount of days with the pass to use at whatever state park they please. After a few days it must be returned to the library for someone else to use.
Pretty cool, huh? Now go find that Library card that's probably in the back of your closet.
