If you recently have received a text message from your own number, don't freak out. You aren't the only one this has been happening to. Hundreds of Verizon customers around the country have been getting strange text messages from themselves offering a "gift" of some sort. According CBS News, the message will include a link that supposedly will take you to a site where you can redeem your prize.
Whatever you do... DO NOT CLICK THE LINK! Some people went on Twitter to express their frustration after being fooled by....themselves? According to CBS News, the link has taken people to Russian websites. This could possibly be linked to cyber attacks in relation to the Russian attacks in Ukraine.
Verizon issued a statement saying they are actively working to fix this problem and block the messages.
