The city of Los Angeles is going to be extra buzzy this weekend. The 2022 LA Marathon is set for Sunday March 20th, which means there will be a lot of road and lane closures. Here is what you can expect if you are traveling near the downtown LA area.
The event is expected to start at 6:30 am. Thousands of runners will be lining up at Dodgers Stadium for a 26.2 mile run. According to NBC Los Angeles, be prepared for ramps, streets and freeway closure staring early Sunday morning around 4am. The marathon should be over around 9 am and the latest the closures will open back up is around 5 pm.
You might be able to catch parts of the race throughout the city. According to NBC Los Angeles, the route the race will take the runners will have them passing through downtown Los Angeles, Echo Park, Hollywood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Century City, Westwood and Brentwood. There will also be a festival at the finish line.
