Legoland Parks In The U.S. Will Become Autism Centers By This Spring

Legoland Resorts are doing something truly amazing as they just announced all of their North America theme parks will be Certified Autism Centers (CAC) by March 31, 2023. LOVE THIS

“With 1 in 44 children diagnosed with autism in the U.S., we want to build understanding and empathy while also ensuring our teams have the tools and support strategies when engaging with a neurodiverse population,” Scott O’Neil, the CEO of Merlin Entertainments, said in a statement. “Through this certification, we’re providing our guests with more opportunities to create and play their way while supporting parents through every step of the vacation planning journey.”

Legoland in Florida and California have already received their certification last year but their new theme park in New York will have their certification when they open in March. This certification means that staff will have specialized training for staff, there will be low-sensory areas and quiet rooms, and there will be sensory guides at each ride to indicate if there are bright lights and loud sounds that could impact visitors who are on the autism spectrum.
