If you are going to West Hollywood this weekend, you might want to be careful because law enforcement is warning people about the rise in pickpocketing.
"I had my phone in my back pocket. I was just with my friends. One moment my phone is there, then I feel someone take my phone, and I turned around and I see this guy in a hoodie," said Matty Hendrickson who's had his phone stolen twice in recent months. In most cases though, people don't feel anything when something is taken from their pockets.
Sgt. Joana Warren from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is saying that WeHo's pickpocket problem is getting worse and has more than doubled since everything has been reopening from the COVID-19 lockdown. Bars, clubs and restaurants around the Santa Monica strip are warning their customers to watch out for their belongings as they deal with the rise in theft.
"Just remember to keep the phone in your hand. Not on your person, but in your hands," said Warren. Click here for more.
