Today, California senators approved a bill to give people the authority to sue those who traffic illegal firearms. Gov. Gavin Newsom pushed for the bill after the horrific massacre at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas yesterday.
The bill would allow Californians to file a civil lawsuit against anyone who distributes illegal assault weapons, parts that can be used to build weapons, guns without serial numbers or .50 caliber rifles and could be awarded at least $10,000 in civil damages for each weapon. This is one step closer to hopefully doing something about mass shootings across the U.S. We are praying for the families of those that were lost and the community in Uvalde, Texas.
