Tumblr to Ban All Adult Content

Will this move sink Tumblr?

The microblogging site has announced that it will be banning all forms of adult content from its site this month.

Adult content has been a staple of Tumblr since it was founded in 2007. It was one of the few remaining safe spaces for adult-themed content. That will now end.

The chief executive of Tumblr is Jeff D’Onofrio. He cites the company's responsibility to “different age groups, demographics, cultures, and mindsets” as reasoning for the move.

In a statement announcing the move, Tumblr seemed to point to the idea that more people will access their app and site if adult content was removed.
