Starbucks Opens 'Signing Store' For Deaf Customers

Coffee is a universal language, and Starbucks just proved it by opening a 'Signing Store' where customers can order in American Sign Language.

Every employee at the new Washington DC location is either fully or partly deaf and can communicate in ASL.

The store also features specially designed ordering consoles and sign-language-inspired art on the walls.

Actress Marlee Matlin, one of the country's most well-known deaf advocates, was among the customers for the Signing Store's grand opening.  Starbucks says the new store will promote 'accessibility' as well as offer career opportunities for those who are deaf and hearing-impaired.

I love how inclusive Starbucks is. Kudos to them for pushing the envelope when it comes to creating spaces that welcome EVERYONE.
