Miguel has always seemed to explore and represent his Mexican identity in his music and persona.
In a recent episode of Viceland’s Earthworks series, Miguel travels to the heart of Mexico to meet relatives for the first time and further explore his complex identity as a multi-racial person.
During his trip the 32-year-old singer stops by the radio station where his grandma used to work and even performs a rendition of Los Panchos "Contigo."
Miguel says,“most people think of me as solely a black artist, but there’s a reason why my name is Miguel.”
