Community College Students Now Have Guaranteed Admission to UC Schools

California college students might have something new that they can celebrate.

On Wednesday, UC and the California community college system announced that they had reached an agreement that provides an easier way for students to transfer to four-year universities.

The agreement states that once students complete one of the model major-specific curriculum and meet the minimum GPA requirements they will be guaranteed admission to a school in the UC system.

In the past, this transfer process was heavily complicated, often left aspiring four-year students left with little to no options.

Eloy Oakley, chancellor of the California Community Colleges, stated that this agreement will be extremely beneficial to those in disadvantaged communities who have fewer resources to help them fully accomplish their goals of higher education.

This “transfer pathway” plan is expected to rollout this fall, so current community college students can take advantage of this great opportunity to further their education.
