After backlash from users and President Clinton’s daughter Chelsea Clinton, who commented on the “awful” Snapchat advertising that asked snappers “Would They Rather: Slap Rihanna or Punch Chris Brown?” the social media platform removed the ad.
Users felt that Snapchat was making light of the domestic abuse suffered by Rihanna and felt that platform was “tone deaf”.
An apology was released by Snapchat in a statement, “The advertising was reviewed and approved in error, as it violates our advertising guidelines. We immediately removed the ad last weekend, once we became aware."
Chelsea Clinton took to social media to share her feelings on the insensitive ad writing, “Awful that anyone thinks this is funny. Awful that anyone thinks this is appropriate. Awful that any company would approve this."
