This week on the IHeart SoCal Show Ej spoke with Bill Stephney. Bill was at the head of the first real hip-hop movement, which produced the first political hip-hop group, Public Enemy. Their song, “Fight the Power,” is iconic and was an anthem for a movement of consciousness around the struggles of Black people in the 80s. Living in Los Angeles, people of color feel as well as see the wealth gap. MoCaFi has a platform here that launched last September – Angeleno Connect – that is designed to help Angelenos who are unbanked, underbanked, and relying on cash. Which is an important step towards closing the wealth gap. The conversation that is happening Wednesday, May 11th at CAAM in Downtown LA, will feature speakers from VantageScore, Slauson & Co., Prosperity Market, Thai CDC, Sole Folks, the LA Urban League, ThinkWatts, as well as the City of LA and even Wells Fargo.
