The world's most remote post office in Antarctica is hiring for a dream job position! If you're good at sorting mail, selling postage stamps, and counting penguins, this could be the job for you!
Four candidates will be chosen to fill a five-month role at Port Lockroy, also known as the "Penguin Post Office".
Port Lockroy is a popular tourist destination on Goudier Island, which is located off the west side of the Antarctic peninsula.
According to officials, the historic site receives about 18,000 visitors each season and the area is also filled with penguins. It is also one of the most visited sites in Antarctica.
The coveted role will require candidates to take responsibility for maintaining the historic site and catering to the thousands of tourists that will visit during the in-season.
Only four candidates will be chosen for the role at Port Lockroy. However, applicants are warned that it is not a glamorous job.
While the goal is to live as sustainably as possible, employees must live without running water, Internet or cellphone service for five months.
The team resides together in a small lodge, where they sleep in bunk beds and share a single bathroom and camping toilet.
Visiting ships will offer showers when they stop by, which at most could take up to two weeks time.
Those interested in applying for the role can visit the UK Antarctic Heritage Trust website for more details.
