Poll workers play an essential role in elections and can service their community. The Registrar of Voters is seeking poll workers for the Gubernatorial Primary Election on June 7.
For $15 per hour, poll workers can serve their communities by handling a number of responsibilities.
Those responsibilities include submitting hiring/payroll paperwork, attending a two-day, paid poll worker training, opening and closing a vote center, processing voters, and answering voter questions.
The Registrar of Voters is seeking English speakers who are also bilingual in Spanish, Filipino, Vietnamese, and/or Chinese.
Now that vote centers are open throughout the county for an extended period before Election Day, poll workers are now needed to staff vote centers for up to 11 days in the two weeks before Election Day.
For those interested in becoming a poll worker, applicants must be 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, and registered to vote in California. If not registered to vote in California, they should be lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the United States.
Officials say that applicants must also provide their own transportation to their assigned vote center.
The Registrar's office is seeking people who are team players, exhibit strong leadership and customer service skills, and display flexibility, patience and the highest level of integrity at all times.
All poll workers must represent the Registrar of Voters in a professional, nonpartisan manner.
Applications are available online and for more information, call (858) 565-5800 or email pollworker@sdcounty.ca.gov.
