Meet our Hometown Hustler this week—Yesenia Castro of Pink & Boujee LA!
When was the business founded?
What did you do before jumping into running you own business?
I worked in the sales field for many years at insurance companies such as AAA and GEICO. Prior to that I went to fashion school and have always used creativity to express myself. That is why I chose my location to be in the Fashion District. To be able to combine both of the worlds I’m passionate about. Fashion & Food.
A little bit of why you started your company?
Being raised in LA has always inspired me in so many ways. Our LA Taco culture is like no other. I wanted to celebrate my culture in ways others can relate and create a vibe where my people feel celebrated and welcomed. Everyone is treated like family here. It’s so important for me to always share my story/journey. To inspire to be the best version of yourself and bring your vision to life. Most importantly to inspire other young girls to be confident that they can achieve anything they set their mind to. I have quotes on my tables to empower others. One of them says “Self Love Club”
What do you offer?:
Tacos, Loaded Hot Cheetos, Sliders, Breakfast, Aguas Frescas. Pretty much everything Latinas/I grew up eating. All of our meat is certified & there is absolutely no artificial color in our menu.
What happened during the pandemic? How did you pivot?
The pandemic was tough for everyone. We were lucky enough to do pop up events & farmers markets to survive.
Where can listeners find you?
