Los Angeles County Beaches Have Been Shut Down Due To Raw Sewage Leak

Certain Los Angeles County beaches have been shut down today due to a huge raw sewage leak that contained.

“The cause of the sewage discharge was a blocked main line which resulted in sewage entering the storm drain system at the corner of Admiralty Way and Palawan Way,” officials explain.

According to KTLA 5, around 64,000 gallons of untreated sewage had leaked into the ocean which contaminated nearby wet sand. The beaches that are currently closed due to this leakage are:

  • Mother's Beach in Marina Del Rey
  • Venice City Beach, 1/2 Mile North of Marina entrance
  • Dockweiler State Beach, 1/2 Mile South of Ballona Creek

The blockage has been cleared but the areas will be closed until the daily water sampling meets the bacterial levels for health standards. Head to L.A. Public Health's website for more information on beach warnings and closures.
