In their place, he championed a boutique hotel experience, Michelin-inspired dining, immersive entertainment and a culture of brilliant service with unmistakable Virgin style, all included with no hidden fees.
Under his leadership, Virgin Voyages has achieved its highest-ever financial success and is charting a course for ambitious global expansion. The brand now sails to more than 150 global destinations and is preparing for the launch of its highly anticipated fourth ship, Brilliant Lady. This approach stems from his deeply held philosophy of "people-first.” Nirmal built a culture of inclusion and empowerment where a well-cared-for Crew can deliver world-class experiences. Before setting sail with Virgin Voyages, Nirmal was a Principal at VirginGroup in New York, where he played a key role in the launch and growth of several Virgin brands, including Virgin America and VirginHotels. Earlier in his career, he worked in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs.
Born in Zambia to Sri Lankan parents, Nirmal has lived around the world – from the UK to Australia – and now calls south Florida home, where he resides with his wife and their two children. He holds an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Commerce (First Class Honors) from the University of Sydney.
