posted by Brogan Kroener -

Instagram has today launched its latest feature, ‘Focus’, this feature is almost the same as the portrait mode feature on iOS. This new feature is available on the iPhone 6s and later (including the iPhone SE). Further, the @ mention sticker is also available for iOS. ————- Instagram press release: When you open the camera, you’ll see “Focus” next to “Superzoom” under the record button. Take a selfie or switch to the back-facing camera to find a friend. As soon as there’s someone in the shot, you’ll notice the person stays in focus while the background softly blurs — making sure they stand out in a striking way. Simply tap to take a photo or tap and hold to record a video. When you’re done, you can add creative tools like filters, stickers and text to your photo or video before sending to your friends on Instagram Direct or adding to your story. After you’ve taken a photo or video in your stories camera, open the stickers tray, tap the @ mention sticker, start typing the name of the account you want to mention and select from the options that appear. You can then rotate, scale and place your sticker wherever you’d like. #instagram #focus #instagramfocus

Instagram has been around since 2010, and since then, the app has continued to evolve. It's added filters, stories, boomerangs, and and even a live options.

Today, the picture-app announced that it's stepping its photo game up even more by now offering Focus Mode.

According to Bustle, the new Focus option is available when opening up your camera in the app. Then when you point the camera at someone, it will portrait them by focusing solely on them and "softly" blurring the background. This effect will make your selfies look even more high quality.

You can take pictures in Focus mode, then apply filters, stickers, and text. You can then add them to your story or send them via Instagram Direct.

It's available on all iPhones and some Androids devices.

You'll definitely be asking all your friends to take pictures of you using this new high-quality portrait effect.
