Brace Yourselves - 'Carmageddon' Is Coming To The 210 Freeway On July 20th

There is another "Carmageddon" happening and the California Department of Transportation is warning San Gabriel Valley residents to prepare for the closure happening this week.

According to the Los Angeles Times, there will be an extensive closure on the westbound 210 Freeway in Irwindale starting Wednesday, July 20th at 11pm until Tuesday, July 26th at 5am . It will be a 126 hour shutdown that affects the 210 Freeway between the 605 Freeway and Irwindale Ave.

This closure is part of the San Gabriel River Bridge Hinge Replacement Project that will replace hinges and older bridge railings so they're "into compliance with current standards." Bike trails in the area will not be closed and will be open during the normal operating hours. There is also another shutdown planned for August 17th-23rd on the eastbound 210 Freeway between the 605 Freeway and Irwindale Avenue as part of the same project.
