New Road Closures Are In Effect To Keep Cyclists Safe At Griffith Park

If you've ever been through Griffith Park, then you'll notice that there a lot of pedestrians and bicyclists that go through the area. There is a new pilot program that is aimed to keep bicyclists, pedestrians, and wildlife safe from the constant cars going through the park.

The north end of Griffith Park Drive near the 134 Freeway is now closed for drivers from Travel Town to the top of the hill near the Mount Hollywood Drive turnoff. This safety precaution has been a high concern especially ever since a 77-year old was hit and killed by a suspected drunk driver by the Crystal Springs Drive. The Recreation and Parks Department has said that the road closure could become permanent and the city will be looking at data collected to see how successful the pilot program is to figure out the next steps.
