New COVID-19 Bill Will Require California Children to Be Vaccinated

There have been many debates on whether children must be vaccinated to attend school and all of that might change due to a new bill being proposed today.

State Senator, Richard Pan (D-Sacramento), will be announcing a bill Monday morning to have COVID-19 vaccines be added to the California's list of required shots for students in K-12.

"We need to make sure schools are safe so that all parents are comfortable sending their children to school," said Pan.

Gov. Gavin Newsom currently has a mandate in California which requires students to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, however it does not go into effect until the FDA fully approves the shot for children ages 12 and older. As of right now, the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is fully approved for ages 16 and older and there is an emergency authorization for those ages 5-15.
