Old Dominion Announces New Song ‘Some People Do’ Co-Penned By Thomas Rhett

On Thursday (January 23), Old Dominion announced its next single, titled “Some People Do”, which was co-written by Thomas Rhett. “Probably one of my favorite songs I’ve ever been a part of writing,” TR posted on Instagram.

The ballad features a poignant piano melody and strings that fit perfectly with the reflective and heartbreaking lyrics that you can feel reverberate through your core.

“It’s a breaking-point kind of song. I think inherently we’re all good people and want to be good people, but no matter who you are, sometimes you hurt the ones you love,” frontman Matt Ramsey wrote on Instagram. “It’s about that desire to be the best person you can be for those people.”

Ramsey echoes this sentiment in the chorus of the new single. “Some people quit drinking too much/ And some people quit lying/ Some people decide to grow up/ But it's never good timing/ Most wouldn't forgive what I put you through/ But I'm here tonight, hoping some people do.”

In an interview with iHeartCountry last October, Ramsey opened up to us about writing with the “Look What God Gave Her” singer. “the great thing about Thomas Rhett is he's a songwriter just as much as we are,” he said. “He cares just as much as we do about that process and just about getting the best song.”

If you love the song and want to hear it live, you're in luck because Old Dominion is going on tour this spring and summer.

The We Are Old Dominion Tour kicks off in Florida this May and will hit over a dozen cities from including Charleston, South Carolina, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and more. Even better? Dustin Lynch and Carly Pearce will also be acting as support on tour.
