The folks at GQ Magazine have definitely ruffled a couple of feathers.
The men’s magazine just released a list of the “21 Most Books You Don’t Have To Read” and the Bible is one of them.
The Bible is called “foolish, repetitive and contradictory” by GQ novelist Jesse Ball writes. “Those who have read it know there are some good parts, but overall it is certainly not the finest thing that man has ever produced,” says Ball.
Other books on GQ’s list are The Catcher in the Rye, Lonesome Dove, The Old Man and the Sea, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The Lord of the Rings.
The book that Ball recommends people read? Agota Kristof's The Notebook calling it “a marvelous tale of two brothers who have to get along when things get rough.”
