Next Up Artist of the Week: The Shadowboxers!

The Shadowboxers took time off of their tour with Justin Timberlake to stop by 102.7 KIIS FM! The pop group is on the rise and is our #KIISNextUp Artist of the Week.

Blending pop and R&B with many other genres, The Shadowboxers just released their latest EP on April 16, and it is called Apollo. Check out our interview with the guys here at the KIIS studios in Burbank!

To give you some background on The Shadowboxers, they had a new wave of success after being discovered by Justin Timberlake on Twitter a few years back. The guys started a weekly series where they posted covers online, and their rendition of Timberlake's 2013 hit "Pusher Love Girl" gained a lot of attention.

The band tweeted it to the man himself, and through the thousands of tweets he receives per day, Timberlake just happened to see it. I bet they didn't expect what happened next...

Timberlake loved the group so much that he decided to meet up with them on his 20/20 Tour. He offered to mentor them and give some input on their sound, and as time went on, Timberlake decided to sign them to his artist development label called Villa 40.

If you like Justin Timberlake, you are going to love The Shadowboxers! Their sound is very similar to JT, but they throw their own spin on the expected pop / R&B sound. Many of their songs including "Hot Damn!" and "Runaway" even credit Timberlake as a producer.

Check out the lyric video for "Runaway" below!

Band members Adam Hoffman, Matt Lipkins and Scott Tyler met at Emory University in Atlanta, GA almost 10 years ago and started playing music together on campus.

From dorm rooms to incredible sold-out arenas, The Shadowboxers have come a long way in terms of upping their performance! They now refer to themselves as a "soulful pop band from Nashville-by-way-of-Atlanta" and "bad action movie aficionados" in their Twitter biography.

If you are going to Justin Timberlake's Man of the Woods Tour at the Forum on Saturday, April 28, be sure to get there early to see The Shadowboxers! The guys are sure to put on an amazing show.

You can also catch them on Monday April 30th at The Peppermint Club in Los Angeles. Get your tickets to the On The Side Tour here.
