I'm sure all of us at some point have wished to be a bird, to be able to soar through city streets and over beautiful landmarks. Daydreaming while stuck in horrendous LA traffic has us wishing we all had wings that made us able fly above and escape all the craziness.
Well, while we can't actually do that (yet), technology is coming to a point where we can virtually soar all around the country. A Swiss company is building a virtual reality flyer which is named Birdly.
This simulator is decked out with robotics which gives you the feeling of flying through the air, complete with wind blowing through your hair and wings to let you maneuver through places like New York City. The cost of this simulator is $175,000, so it doesn't seem like it will be a household item. People interested in "flying" can expect to see Birdly in science centers, museums and other public attraction areas.
While it's still in trial mode, Andy Wood, the Vice President of Somniacs (company that makes Birdly) said people could expect seeing Birdly popping up in various parts of the country including Southern California! How cool!
