The day we've all been waiting for since the moment One Direction announced their hiatus is HERE.
Harry Styles has officially released his debut solo album and I am honestly blown away by what I've heard from it so far.
Are you ready to listen to this masterpiece track by track?
Let's go!
Meet Me In The Hallway - this song is so chill but also so chilling. There's just this mystical quality to it that will make you honestly want to listen to this one over and over again.
Favorite lyric: "Just let me know I'll be on the floor, on the floor/ Maybe we'll work it out/ I gotta get better, gotta get better"
Sign Of The Times - we all know and love this one because it was the first single. I'll say nothing other than giving you the video:
Carolina - let's just say this one is a total groovy jam. It's got some throwback vibes and I just want to replay it over and over to feel GOOD!
Two Ghosts - this is the song that fans are speculating is about Taylor Swift. The lyrics are pretty telling, but Harry himself will not confirm or deny it. In fact, when asked about if it was about Taylor in an interview, he literally SCREAMED:
But the lyrics, oh my GOSH these lyrics. They're beautiful and sweet and so telling:
"The fridge light washes this room white/Moon dances over your good side/ This was all we used to need/Tongue-tied like we've never known/Telling those stories we already told/'Cause we don't say what we really mean
We're not who we used to be/ We're not who we used to be/ We're just two ghosts standing in the place of you and me/ We're not who we used to be/ We're not who we used to be/ We've just two ghosts swimming in a glass half empty/ Trying to remember how it feels to have a heartbeat"
Sweet Creature - this song also came out before the album was released and it was a somewhat surprising change from what we knew with 'Sign of the Times'. More acoustic, a little more 'Little Things' by One Direction feel.
Only Angel - immediately from the beginning of this song you can hear that it is DIFFERENT. It starts off soft and almost gospel-sounding. And then it lights UP. The best way to describe it is 'electric'
Favorite lyrics: "I must admit I thought I'd like to make you mine/ As I went about my business through the warning signs/ And end up meeting in the hallway every single time/ And there's nothing we can do about it"
Kiwi - I've been dying to hear this song. Because what could a song called Kiwi sound like? Turns out it sounds like ROCK. And I'm not entirely sure I know exactly what it is about, but I don't even care. I want to dance to this for the rest of the weekend.
I mean the chorus says over and over, 'I'm having your baby, it's none of your business' so, you figure out what that's about!
Ever Since New York - we heard this one for the first time on SNL a couple weeks ago and it was originally the song that everyone thought was going to be about Taylor Swift because their relationship was very centered around New York and she has that song 'Welcome To New York'. But, nope. It doesn't seem that way, unless it is very hidden in the lyrics that it is about her.
BUT anyway, this song is amazing and subtle to whatever it is about, so you can make up your own.
Woman - we have to discuss the fact that the first thing this song says is 'should we just search romantic comedies on Netflix and then see what we find' and that is amazingly the last thing I ever expected to hear in a Harry Styles song.
But the only way I can describe this song is groovy, jazzy and feeling a lot like this:
From The Dining Table - this is one of those songs that you know is brutally honest, just in the way it sounds and in the way it was written. I love that it's a little different from the rest of the songs on this album, there is a raw-ness to it that makes you think "oh. no." about the situation. And please, please, PLEASE listen through the bridge. His voice is incredible.
Favorite lyric: "Woke up the girl who looked just like you/ I almost said your name/ We haven't spoke since you went away/ Comfortable silence is so overrated/ Why won't you ever say what you want to say?/ Even my phone misses your call"
And that, my friends, is a wrap on our first ever solo album from Harry Styles
I am far more impressed than I even thought I would be, so bravo, Harry!
Can't wait to see all else that is in store for this guy.
