Miley Cyrus Is Performing Her New Single at Wango Tango!

We're all excited about Miley Cyrus performing at our annual KIIS-FM Wango Tango! But we're even more excited to announce that Miley's performing her newest single at the concert too!

Dropping May 11, Miley is revealing her new song "Malibu" to the world, which is the first single off her yet-to-be-titled album coming later in the year. The single is a love song written about her beau Liam Hemsworth, described as a "breezy, gimmick-free pop-rock [song] unlike anything she has recorded before". As for her lyrics, Cyrus writes and sings “I never would’ve believed you if three years ago you told me I’d be here writing this song,” which could possibly refer to both her music and husband.

According to her Billboard cover story, Cyrus has written all the melodies and lyrics for her new album by herself. She says that this album is quite a personal one, though it does include one song with a political edge to it. In response to the album's sentimentality, Cyrus told Billboard, "They’re going to talk about me if I come out of a restaurant with Liam. So why not put the power back in my relationship and say, 'This is how I feel'?... I needed to change so much. And changing with someone else not changing like that is too hard. Suddenly you’re like, 'I don’t recognize you anymore.' We had to refall for each other."

Miley says one of her influences on this album included folk singer Melanie Safka, who previously performed with her in 2015. However, Miley further explained her music influences to Billboard saying, "I grew up with [Safka]. But I also love that new Kendrick Lamar song 'Humble'.

"I was torn on whether I was going to work with certain producers that I really like. But I feel if we’re not on the same page politically ... My record is political, but the sound bite doesn’t stop there. Because you can write something beautiful and you know news companies will ruin our lives and say, “This is a political record.” Because then I’m the Dixie Chicks and I’m getting my album smashed in the streets, and that’s not what I want. I want to talk to people in a compassionate, understanding way -- which people aren’t doing."

Don't forget to catch Miley perform her new single "Malibu" at our
