Hikers and tourists are going to have to find another way to get to the iconic Hollywood sign!
The Hollyridge Trail entrance on Beachwood Drive will no longer be an option. This closure was due to a court ruling made this week on a lawsuit that was filed by Sunset Ranch, which is the horse stable located on the trail. They argued having pedestrians access the road to Sunset Ranch impeded ability to conduct their business.
The city will start redirecting hikers and tourists to Vermont Canyon and Canyon Road over the next few weeks. Councilman David Ryu, who represents Griffith Park said, "My office will continue to move forward on long-term strategies to create better experiences for tourists and safeguard the negatively impacted communities around the Hollywood Sign."
Interesting. I feel like closing off this access will just make the other options more congested with traffic, which is really the last thing we need.
