We should all feel very lucky to have an artist like Selena Gomez around right now.
Not only does she put out wonderful, heartfelt and fun music, but she also is incredibly honest about her real-life experiences and doesn't sugar coat things.
While promoting the new show she is an executive producer on, '13 Reasons Why', Selena opened up about the time she spent in rehab as well as her past as a Disney kid.
'13 Reasons Why' is a show based on the young adult novel by Jay Asher, which follows a teenage girl named Hannah who commits suicide after struggling with her mental health.
The subject matter of the show/novel prompted Selena to talk about her own mental health during a panel for the show saying, "to be frank with you, I was going through a really difficult time when they started production. I went away for 90 days. I actually met tons of kids in this place that were talking about a lot of the issues that these characters are experiencing."
She also discussed her life as a Disney Channel star - which she calls "the biggest high school in the world" - and how that experience made her deal with things on a different scale.
"It was just kids... but it was also adults that had the audacity to tell me how I should live my life. It was very confusing for me. It was so confusing, I had no idea who I was going to be, what I am still going to become."
Seriously, this girl just gets it. And I know everyone appreciates someone who is as real as it gets.
LOVE YOU SEL!
