The third day of Fashion Week LA focused more on swimwear and street wear. Vanwolff, and Maggie Barry were just a few of many designers I watched showcasing their Fall 2014 collections that day.
Vanwolff is a swim and underwear company for men; the brand launched in 2012 and is based in LA. The brand features designs in briefs and trunks with sea creature graphics such as a seahorse, piranha, and serpent. Once the models came out my mouth dropped, I almost forgot I was watching a fashion show; they were all so gorgeous looking. I can definitely say I enjoyed watching this show!
Debuting her M8 Fall 2014 urban street wear collection, Maggie Barry was the closing designer of the night. With a large clientele list of big time celebrities such as Lady GaGa, Nicki Minaj, Dita Von Tease, and Steven Tyler is known for her amazing costume designs. Her M8 Urban collection featured pieces with quilted jackets, French terry, and cashmere. To view more pieces from her latest collection check out her newly opened “Shoppe” located in downtown Los Angeles on E 8th
Its Day 4 and I still haven’t had enough of fashion week! Loving every minute of it, I was extremely exited to see Betsey Johnson’s show but before I could watch that I went to check out Civil Society, and Control Sector. Civil Society showed off their fall 2014 menswear collection called “Fire and Ice” which is described to be a more refined and tailored young men’s street and contemporary look.
Shortly following Civil Society’s show was Control Sector. This fashion forward men’s street wear line caught the attention of the many guys that attended this show. The collection “Beautiful Disaster” plays with the idea of the 4 elements in nature; earth, wind, fire, and water. Look out for these fashion forward looks, menswear is heading in a whole new direction.
Lastly, the anticipation was killing me! I was sitting front row for the closing designer, which was Betsey Johnson. I could not wait to see what she had in store for that night. Of course I could never be disappointed her show was filled with bright colors, platform shoes, sequins, colorful furs, and funky patterns, basically everything the describes Betsey perfectly. With her signature cartwheel into the splits move for the grand finale I’d had to say It was an awesome way to end the night.
