A painting of Katy Perry, donning a Marilyn Monroe-style gown with a candy cane headdress and lollipop, has caused a bit of controversy at The Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery. The artwork, titled "Cupcake Katy" is a portrait by Will Cotton who also designed Perry's "California Gurls" video is drawing big crowds.

Some feel the esteemed museum is no place for the pop star but the museum curator, Dorothy Moss, disagrees!
