Fruit Salad is good anytime of the year, but it's especially good in the summer, when apples, berries, and melons are ripe and abundant.
Best of all, fruit salad is easy to make, and close to impossible to annihilate. Your options are boundless, from mixing a variety of fruits and adding sour cream or yogurt for the fancy options, or keeping it basic by throwing chopped fruit in a bowl and calling it an awesome fruit salad.
Here are two of my favorite Summer Salad Recipes:
The Simple/Basic Fruit Salad:
Chop/slice the following ingredients: Apple, Red Grapes, Green Grapes, Blackberries, Strawberries, Raspberries, Boysenberries, Banana, and Orange.
Mix into a bowl, and enjoy.
Fabulous Fancy Fruit Salad:
1 red apple, cored and chopped
1 Granny Smith apple, cored and chopped
1 nectarine, pitted and sliced
2 stalks celery, chopped
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 (8 ounce) container nonfat lemon yogurt
Combine the apples, nectarine, celery, cranberries and walnut in a bowl, mix in the yogurt. Chill. Serve and enjoy.
