'Grey's Anatomy's' Ellen Pompeo Talks Directorial Debut At PaleyFest

The stars of Shonda Rhime's long-running medical drama, Grey's Anatomy, gathered at the Dolby Theatre for the 2017 PaleyFest Sunday afternoon, making it the show's first appearance at the annual television festival in 11 years.

The cast returned to tease Ellen Pompeo's directorial debut and what to expect on the remaining episodes of Season 13, so On Air with Ryan Seacrest's Tanya Rad, who spent the last three months binge-watching the past 12 seasons (that's approximately 303 hours of TV), and her best friend, The Bachelor's Becca Tilley, scrubbed up and met with the stars on the red carpet for some heart palpitating photos and social moments.

In attendance were Pompeo, Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens, Jr., Kevin McKidd, Jessica Capshaw, Jesse Williams, Sarah Drew, Caterina Scorsone, Camilla Luddington, Jerrika Hinton, Kelly McCreary, Jason George, Martin Henderson, Giacomo Gianniotti and executive producer Debbie Allen.

During panel --which launched with episode 18 of Season 13, Pompeo's directorial debut airing March 30 -- Pompeo said Allen pushed her to join Wilson and McKidd as stars on the show who also took charge behind the camera.

"This force of nature wouldn’t take no for an answer, and I’m forever grateful to her for that,” Pompeo said. "I’ve been doing this show for 13 seasons, so I wasn’t really nervous about any of the scenes, not to sound arrogant…I have the best cast in the world. I wasn’t really afraid of anything.”

Pompeo added: "I was lucky to have Debbie Allen right with me every step of the way, so when I was tired or confused, she jumped in."

Grey's Anatomy airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC. See more photos from Tanya and Becca’s red carpet coverage below.
